WeAreWaterloo (www.wearewaterloo.co.uk) is an organisation that works with and for local businesses in the Waterloo area. We are looking for a talented and personable Marketing and Communications Manager to spread the word about Waterloo and the work that WeAreWaterloo does to make it a great place to live, work and visit.

We are a Business Improvement District (BID) funded by 400 business ratepayers to improve the local economy. In addition to the money generated through the membership, WeAreWaterloo also seeks additional funding and investment to support the work of the BID. We act as a collective voice for local businesses.

Our work ranges from promotional and marketing initiatives, such as the annual Waterloo Food Month, to environmental projects, to lobbying and business support. We also run the historic Lower Marsh Market.

The post-holder will be working with the small executive team to deliver the objectives of the WeAreWaterloo BID Proposal and leading the BID’s engagement with its diverse membership of local businesses, and the public at large. The post-holder would report to, and be supported by, the Chief Executive.

This is an exciting and varied role that requires both a wide range of marketing and communications skills and a passion for London and its developing neighbourhoods. You will be contributing your communications expertise on all our projects, events and messaging.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The post-holder will be responsible for:

 Annual marketing and communications strategy

 Oversight of external marketing and PR agency who are employed to promote Waterloo retail, culture, food and beverage

 Maintaining www.WeAreWaterloo.co.uk website and providing copy on a regular basis, including well researched events calendar, news items and events              directories

 Promoting BID activity to a range of external partners

 Event management, including Waterloo Food Month, networking events, meetings, guided walks and training

 Press and public relations with direction of CEO

 Working with partners (including Local Authorities and other Business Improvement Districts) to deliver joint projects such as the One Big Summer Guide and the Star Card loyalty scheme

 Quarterly e-newsletters to BID members/partners

 Social media comprising Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds

 BID collateral including local maps, promotional information, posters, stationery

 Film clips for YouTube channel

 Leading on member engagement member engagement

 Monitoring Google Analytics and social media stats

 Liaison with BID members on marketing matters

 Participation in Board Meetings, Steering Group meetings and external meetings as necessary

 Management and development of customer relationship management software

 Promotion of BID projects including Lower Marsh Market, EmploySE1 and Build Studios.

 Occasional management of freelancers and interns

 Management of key performance indicators and budgets

 Other reasonable job-related tasks as necessary

 Occasional evening and weekend events

 

Person specification and Experience required: 

 Qualified to undergraduate degree level or equivalent in related discipline

 Personable, robust individual suited to working in a small team

 Excellent oral and written communication skills

 Experience of project and budget management

 Expertise in managing websites and social media

 Ability to work under pressure and respond to conflicting demands

 Ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues, BID members, and others  Understanding of Business Improvement Districts

 Interest in business and regeneration issues
