Job Description: 

To ensure that all designated areas are cleaned and presented to an agreed standard so that a professional and hygienic environment is constantly maintained.

All aspects of cleaning and upkeep for assigned areas

Ensuring correctly Received deliveries and the documentation associated is filled in correctly

Key responsibilities and objectives of the job.

Assist in general cleaning duties within the kitchen, preparation areas, dish and pot washing areas and dining areas.

Assist the chefs with basic food preparation.

Check in goods and store correctly within the freezers, fridges and store rooms in line with a stock rotation system.

Maintain a safe working environment and operate within Health, Hygiene and Safety legislation at all times.

Undertake any reasonable duties that may be requested by your line manager.

Communication & Networking:

Liaise with your line manager to ensure they are aware of any concerns or issues relating to your work environment.

Advise your line manager of any issues with the general repair, cleanliness or failure of equipment.

Direct agency and casual staff and assist them to deliver a professional and efficient service.

Decision Making, Planning and Problem Solving:

Plan daily work load to ensure all areas are cleaned to the required standards and within the time restraints.

Address customer requests and enquiries in a polite and efficient manner.

Present any customer complaints or compliments to your line manager.

Service Delivery:

Ensure all designated areas are clean prior to opening.

Ensure an adequate supply of clean crockery and cutlery is available.

Respond to requests for information from customers in accordance with College policies.

Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery within the department.

Person specification and Experience required: 

Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom

This post does not qualify for a Certificate of Sponsorship under Home Office regulations therefore the university will not be able to offer sponsorship for this role.

Good written and oral communication skills

Knowledge and understanding of all relevant health, hygiene and safety regulations

To be numerate

Ability to assist with the preparation and service of food and beverage items

Knowledge of cleaning products and materials

Knowledge of working in a catering environment

Experience of basic food preparation

Experience of operating a dishwasher

Experience of cleaning kitchen areas

Hardworking and reliable

Excellent customer services focus

Able to relate effectively with customers and staff

Keen to develop with catering and learn new skills

Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings in line with business requirements.

Qualifications: 

Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

NVQ level 1 or equivalent catering qualification

Hold a current Food Handlers certificate
