Job Description: 

The Business Development Director will (with support from, and on behalf of, the Board of Trustees) provide management oversight for the current business units, manage the programme, develop and implement a new model of recruitment and support.

Develop the scope for a broader offer to disadvantaged people.

The Director will help develop and implement a plan to deliver long-term sustainability of the charity and deliver specific pilot projects and any development of the Project.

Person specification and Experience required: 

We require a talented and self-motivated individual to lead the development of the charity.

The person will need to be able to connect to unit holders, partners, supporters and the local community in an empathetic and engaging manner and possess the personal credibility to influence stakeholders.

The post-holder will be directed and supported, but there will be flexibility to manage own workload, negotiate key deliverable goals and be creative in how they help develop the charity.

Key essential qualities we seek are:

  • Ability to act as an ambassador for the project, building relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Evokes a feeling of trust, fairness, energy and a good rapport with business associates and their employees
  • Ability to articulate service proposition to clients.
  • Ability to manage processes in a supportive way that maintains firm boundaries.
  • Can create coherent, complete business plans and identify the gaps between existing capabilities and capacity, and what is required to deliver the business plan.
  • Ability to fund raise and tenacious and positive approach to funding.
  • Good at forming links with prisons, probation service, third sector providers, education providers and businesses.
  • Ability to create a supportive system of services for unit holders.
  • Capacity to work independently and manage own workload.
  • Ability to use Board of Trustees for direction and decision making and utilise individual skills of members to further goals.
  • Takes pride in our unit holders' achievements

Key desirable qualities:

  • A good communicator, verbally and by email. Ability to create formal policy documents.
  • Financially literate – capable of understanding monthly accounts and delegated authority and follow control systems.
  • Ability to construct spreadsheets, develop financial control systems and processes.
  • Experience of successful fund raising and capacity to build relationships with potential donors and act as their 'account manager'.
  • Ability to run a bid development process, ensuring a coherent, commercially-viable response.
  • Manage licence contacts, rental agreements.
  • Project management skills.
  • Formal project management qualification.
Qualifications: 

Suitable qualifications in management and business development. Having said that, this is a role that someone stepping into management can flourish. But you must show demonstrable potential.
